Recycled and sanded tourist ads posters, Bingo red and blue ink, water.
Residency project at La Napoule Art Foundation, France
Series of 3 uniques works of 118 x 172 cm each.
During my residency, I collected travel ads posted around the town Cagnes-sur-mer. Using various sanding and rubbing methods, I tried to erase the textual content and push the limits of promotional legibility. I then hand printed a screen using red and blue Bingo daubers. This overlaid screen evokes the conventional AM screening used in printing, composed of dots of colour. Lastly, I submerged the poster in water to dilute the sanded and the added inks. The work immerses us into the watery reflections of the Mediterranean Sea. The cinematic reference of the project’s title, The Big Blue, recalls the poetic and tragic attraction of the deep seas.
